The Upper Receiver Group - Improved or the URG-I, is a rifle successor of the SOPMOD Block II program, a rifle used by the operators of the US Army Special Operation Command (USASOC). Salvo Precision meticulously crafting the rifle from precision-machined aluminium and reinforced QPQ steel components, delivering a high-quality GBB rifle to the airsoft community. Meeting the needs of their operators demands in todays military operations, USASOC went through a modernisation trial in the the late 2010s, in search for a successor to the SOPMOD Block II program, with influence from the 3-Gun community that affected the final decision for the URG-I program that includes; an M-LOK rail interface, mid length gas-system to reduce recoil, thumb over bore grip, thinner handguard profiles, compatibility with Surefire Warcomps and such. This resulted in the G*issele as being the selected winner to the URG-I program.
Salvo faithfully replicates the URG-I using precision-machined aluminium and reinforced QPQ steel internals, ensuring an authentic experience for owners of this particular rifle. Equipped with a 14mm CCW outer barrel paired with a birdcage flash hider, the URG-I rifles features the low-profile G-style Mk 16 handguard, a modular M-LOK handguard that allows the mounting of various furniture and peripheral devices, along with a comfortable grip when grasping the rifle and integrated QD sockets for mounting of QD slings, with its monolithic Picatinny upper allows the mounting of optics and additional peripheral devices. The receiver features an A2 pistol grip, and the ambidextrous Airborne charging handle that allows easier manipulation of racking the bolt. At its rear is the ergonomic crane stock, an angled buttstock that provides added comfort when cheek welding the rifle, along with a rubberised buttpad to enhance comfort when shouldering the rifle. The stock provides 6 positions of stock adjustment to suit the shooters needs, and additional QD and sling slots for the installation of slings.
At its core, the rifle incorporates the renowned Marui MWS system for the URG-I?s internals, selecting a quality system celebrated for its exceptional performance, reliability, and gas efficiency, further enhanced with reinforced components to improve durability. Steel parts, including the bolt-locking plate and internal trigger mechanism components, are integrated to extend the rifle's performance and structural integrity. Salvo?s decision to replicate the esteemed MWS system while enhancing its components is an innovative solution that benefits players seeking durability and outstanding performance in the field, featuring fully functional, manipulable fire controls for right-handed shooters to switch between Safe-Semi-Auto fire modes, along with engaging the charging handle, bolt release, and magazine release, ensuring accessibility to fire controls during intense firefights.
